A layered, deeply satisfying Highball riff (or Whiskey and Coke if being less formal) with notes of baking spice, vanilla, citrus zest, and bittersweet flavors The cola notes in the mildly bittersweet Amaro Meletti and spice and floral notes in the more bitter Fernet make wonderful foils to the Coca Cola. The rye brings notes of cinnamon and vanilla that are nice accents and the squeeze of fresh lime juice balances the acidity and brings some zip. Very refreshing! 1 oz Rye Whiskey (Bottled in Bond options like Rittenhouse and New Riff bring more concentrated flavor) .5 oz Amaro Meletti (Mildly bittersweet Italian Amaro with notes of cola and a bit of cinnamon) .25 oz Fernet (Contratto makes my favorite with nice floral notes to contrast with the more usual menthol and bittersweet notes, but lots of options) .25 oz Fresh Lime Juice Shake with ice and strain into a chilled Collins glass with ice cubes. Top with 3 oz of Coke (cane sugar version is optimal). Garnish with a lime wedge
