A rich, comforting Old Fashioned riff featuring flavors of fig, honey, and baking spices 🥃🍁🍯 The cinnamon and caramel notes of the bourbon combine with the vanilla and roasted tropical fruit notes of the aged rhum agricole to create a base with plenty of warming spice notes that complement the flavor of the caramelized fresh fig. Additions of small splashes of honey and cinnamon syrup along with a dash of Maple bitters boost the warming spice notes that help elevate the fig. This one is a little bit of work, but absolutely delicious! Cut 2 ripe Black Mission figs in half and turn cut side down on pan heated to medium heat and leave for 1-2 minutes to caramelize the sugars on the surface of the fig and then muddle in mixing tin with 1 Tsp Honey syrup (2 parts honey: 1 part warm water; stir until honey is fully incorporated with water) and .5 oz Aged Rhum Agricole (Clement VSOP, Trois Rivieres, etc) Add: 1.5 oz Bourbon (no need to go too fancy or old; Buffalo Trace, Elijah Craig, etc are good here) Tsp Cinnamon Bark Syrup (crush 3-5 cinnamon sticks and toast on medium heat until fragrant; turn heat to medium-low and add 1/2 C each granulated sugar and water; stir until sugar has dissolved and mixture is near boiling; turn heat to low and simmer 5 minutes before straining) 2 dashes Urban Moonshine Maple Bitters Stir with ice and double strain into a chilled double rocks glass with a large ice cube. Garnish with a caramelized fig half and a lemon twist (first expressing the essential oils over the surface of the drink) #figgetaboutit
