Well You Needn’t

A savory, full-flavored Martini riff that is full of late summer/early autumn flavors and a bit of campfire smoke 🍏🌽🍸
The roasted corn-infused mezcal has a more rounded flavor with a hint of smoke that works nicely with the saline/olive/citrus zest notes in the Haitian sugarcane rhum and the tart green apple notes in the liqueur. The amontillado sherry adds a dry, nutty accent and the bitters and dash of absinthe add some herbal and black pepper accents while the essential oils from the lemon add a nice citrus aroma
1 oz Mezcal (Mezcal Vago Elote is particularly nice here, but a normal Espadin variety bottle can probably sub)
.75 oz Amontillado or Manzanilla Sherry (Hidalgo, Bodegas Yuste, etc)
.5 oz Clairin (Haitian sugarcane rhum; Clairin Vaval has a nice savory note that works well here)
.5 oz Green Apple Liqueur (Leopold Brothers)
1 dash Absinthe
1 dash BitterEnd Chesapeake Bay Bitters (Black pepper, Old Bay, bit of cayenne notes)
Stir with ice and strain into a chilled coupe. Express the oils of a lemon twist over the drink (discarding twist after)
