A juicy highball showcasing winter citrus from Sarah Rosner of DC’s Radiator
The bright flavor of Mandarin orange is underscored with a bit of lemon and softened with a bit of honey syrup. These flavors are provided with a nice base by the botanical profile of the gin and offset with a bit of pepper-y turmeric for a slight savory note. The soda water provides effervescence
1.5 oz Gin (less juniper-heavy varieties that work well with citrus recommended)
1 oz Fresh Mandarin Orange Juice (fresh tangerine juice can also be used in this drink)
.5 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
.5 oz Honey Syrup (1 part honey: 1 part warm water, stir until blended)
Pinch ground turmeric
Shake with ice and strain into a Collins or highball glass with a few ice cubes. Top with 1.5 oz of club soda. Garnish with a small pinch of ground turmeric
