Up And At Them

A rich, autumnal Old Fashioned riff with plenty of apple and spice flavor 🍎🥃🍁
The vanilla and cinnamon notes in the bourbon are boosted by the spices and tannins in the Chai tea-infusion. This mixture works very nicely with the apple cider syrup/reduction and the Sherry-aged Islay scotch brings a hint of smoke and richness. The bitters add notes of maple and baked apple and the oils from the lemon twist brings a bright citrus aroma
1.5 oz Chai tea-infused Bourbon (steep 1 bag in 2 oz of bourbon for 15-20 minutes; Elijah Craig or Buffalo Trace are good here)
.5 oz Islay Scotch (Caol Ila 12, Laphroaig 10, Laguvulin, etc)
.5 oz apple cider syrup (mix equal parts freshly pressed apple cider from the local orchard and brown sugar; stir on low heat until sugar has dissolved and mixture is near a boil before taking off the heat to let cool)
1 dash Urban Moonshine Maple Bitters
1 dash Barkeep Apple Bitters
Stir with ice and strain into a chilled double rocks glass with a large ice cube. Garnish with a lemon twist, making sure to express the oils over the drink
