Unlikely Negroni

Wrapping up my summer favorites with a Negroni with several unexpected tropical accents from Naren Young of Dante in NYC While the ingredient lists may spark worries of a drink tasting like suntan lotion, everything works together beautifully. The bit of pineapple vinegar and Campari cuts the sweetness from the two liqueurs and sweet vermouth, the habanero shrub adds a touch of spice, and the Tequila provides a strong backbone. 1 oz Blanco Tequila .75 oz Campari (or other favorite bitter red aperitivo) .75 oz Sweet Vermouth (vanilla notes in Carpano work nicely here) .25 oz Banana Liqueur (Giffard) .25 oz Coconut Liqueur (Kalani) 1 barspoon pineapple vinegar* 3-4 dashes Habanero Bitters Stir with ice, strain into chilled glass with an ice cube or two. No garnish *While Pok Pok does make a version, can also jury-rig a homemade version by adding equal parts fresh pineapple juice and apple cider vinegar. #fridayfavs
