A delicious Rob Roy variation from San Diego’s excellent Polite Provisions that tastes like a wonderful pear tart 🍐 The honey and stone fruit notes in the Japanese whiskies work in harmony with the ripe pear flavors in the eau de vie, the honey and Spice notes in the Drambuie, the almond notes in the orgeat, and the star anise notes in the absinthe. A wonderful sipper 1 oz Japanese Blended Malt (Suntory Toki) .5 oz Japanese Single Malt (Suntory Yamazaki 12 yr is an excellent choice) .5 oz Pear Brandy (St George makes an excellent bottle) .5 oz Drambuie (Scottish Liqueur that is a blend of Scotch and honey) .25 oz Orgeat (Almond Syrup; Small Hand Foods makes an excellent version) 1 dash Aromatic Bitters of choice (Angostura, Abbott’s, etc) 1 dash Absinthe Stir with ice and strain into a chilled coupe.
