A flavor-packed Dour riff from Chicago bar par excellence Lost Lake that brings plenty of fruit and spice notes to each sip 🏝🍹 The blend of bourbon, aged Guatemalan and overproof dark rum produces a base with prominent notes of caramelized sugar, vanilla, and baking spice with notes of dark fruit that works nicely with the unique tart/sweet flavor of passionfruit. The dry curaçao adds body and boosts the notes of citrus while the Angostura bitters boost the clove and allspice notes and the lemon juice balances the drink with its bright acidity 1 oz Bourbon (a vanilla-forward bottle like Elijah Craig is a good choice) .5 oz Aged Guatemalan Rum (Ron Zacapa has soothing notes of vanilla and brown sugar) .5 oz Overproof Dark Rum (Plantation OFTD is a good choice) .75 oz Fresh Lemon Juice Scant .5 oz Orange Curaçao (Pierre Ferrand Dry is my favorite option) Fat .25 oz Passionfruit Syrup or Liqueur (Small Hand Foods for the syrup, Giffard for the liqueur) 2 dashes Angostura bitters Shake with ice and strain into a chilled Collins glass with ice cubes.
