A tart, refreshing Sour riff from Tyson Buhler that showcases the affinity for raspberry and citrus 🍹🍓🍋
The blend of Gin and unaged aquavit leads to a base with notes of juniper, star anise, and hibiscus that complements the tart/subtly sweet raspberry flavor (present in the raspberry syrup and boosted by the raspberry eau de vie). Splashes of Campari and creme de cacao add complementary bittersweet and chocolate notes while also adding body while the lemon adds some citrus zip that goes very well with the raspberry. A perfect drink to highlight raspberry flavor
1 oz Gin (Options like NY Distillers Co Dorothy Parker Gin, Four Pillars Rare Dry, St George Botanivore are good here)
.5 oz Unaged Aquavit (Krogstad has fennel/star anise notes that work well in this drink)
.5 oz Raspberry Eau De Vie (St George)
.25 oz Campari (or other red bittersweet aperitivo of choice)
.25 oz Creme de Cacao (Tempus Fugit)
.75 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
.5 oz Raspberry Syrup (add 1/2 C ripe raspberries, 2 Tbsp granulated sugar, 1 Tsp Lemon Juice to a food processor and blend until combined)
Shake with ice and strain into a chilled double rocks glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish with a lemon wheel and fresh raspberry
