An elegant Old Fashioned variation that highlights the versatility of tea 🍵 The bergamot and tannic notes in the Earl Grey tea syrup are boosted by the bright Bergamot bitters, the floral/bittersweet Malort, and the orange essential oils from the twist and complemented by the baking spice and oak notes in the bourbon and a subtle undertone of vanilla from the Licor 43 1.5 oz Bourbon (Bonded or Overproof works best). .5 oz Malort (A bittersweet spirit with intriguing floral notes. Few Anguish & Regret/Letherbee Besk/Baska Snaps are best, avoid Jeppson’s at all costs) .25 oz Earl Grey Tea Syrup (add equal parts freshly brewed Earl Grey Tea (on stronger side) and granulated sugar; stir until dissolved) Tsp Vanilla Liqueur/Syrup (Licor 43, Giffard Madagascar Vanilla; can make Syrup with 1/2 vanilla bean with seeds scraped into mix and pod added for 1/2 C each granulated sugar and water; simmer 5-10 minutes before straining out pod) 2 dashes Miracle Mile Bergamot Bitters Stir with ice and strain into a chilled double rocks glass with a large ice cube. Garnish with an orange twist
