The Turnbuckle

A bittersweet, yet tropical riff on a Daiquiri from Jen Akin during her time at Rumba in Seattle
The bittersweet Cynar and tart/sweet passionfruit syrup combine to yield a flavor that is close to cranberry while the orgeat contributes a nutty sweetness, the Jamaican Rum adds notes of tropical fruit, and the lemon brings acidity
1 oz Cynar (Italian amaro with a medium bittersweet flavor)
.75 oz Blended Lightly Aged Jamaican Rum (Appleton Signature is a good choice)
.75 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
.5 oz Passionfruit Syrup (Small Hand Foods)
.25 oz Orgeat (Small Hand Foods)
Shake with ice and and strain into a chilled double rocks glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint (can also add an orchid blossom if handy)
