The Naked Ape

A richly flavored yet refreshing daiquiri/sour riff from the reliably excellent Smuggler’s Cove in SF 🍌🐵🏝 The rich molasses notes in the dark rum and the ripe tropical fruit notes in the Jamaican Overproof rum work in harmony with the banana and cinnamon notes from the liqueur and syrup while the bright, tart lemon juice and Angostura bitters add acidity and spice 1.5 oz Blended Lightly Aged Dark Rum (Coruba, etc) .5 oz Pot Still Lightly Aged Jamaican Overproof Rum (Smith & Cross) .5 oz Banana Liqueur (Giffard or Tempus Fugit) .5 oz Cinnamon Bark Syrup (crush 3-4 sticks of cinnamon and toast on medium/low heat until fragrant; add 1/2 C each granulated sugar and water; stir on medium/low heat until sugar dissolves and mixture comes to low boil; back heat down to low and simmer 5 minutes before straining) .5 oz Fresh Lemon Juice 1 dash Angostura Bitters Flash blend with 12 oz of crushed ice and add to a Tiki mug or chilled double rocks glass. No garnish (but feel free to add a swizzle stick or dried banana chip) #weekendtiki
