A refreshing, summertime sipper from Chicago’s Kristina Magro The deep blueberry flavor in the syrup contrasts works very well with the forest-like flavors in the gin (which are boosted by the addition of fresh rosemary and basil) while the lemon juice brightens the drink 1.5 oz Gin .5 oz Old Tom Gin (maltier, sweeter variety; Scofflaw makes an excellent version) 1 oz Blueberry Syrup (mix granulated sugar, water, and fresh blueberries in equal volumes; stir on med-high heat until sugar dissolves; simmer on medium for 6-8 minutes until blueberries begin to pop; remove from heat, smash berries with back of spoon, strain) 1 oz Fresh Lemon Juice 2 large, fresh Basil leaves, torn 5 fresh Rosemary leaves, torn Shake with ice and double strain into a chilled double rocks glass with a few ice cubes.
