The Coffee House

A rich, comforting Old Fashioned riff from the 1930’s reimagined by Richie Boccato of Brooklyn’s Fresh Kills for fans of coffee flavor that can’t handle caffeine ☕️🍊 The vanilla, baking spice, and subtle nutty flavors in the blend of rye whiskey works nicely with the coffee liqueur while the Orange bitters and essential oils from the orange twist give a pleasant citrus aroma to each sip 1 oz Rye Whiskey (Old Overholt brings a soft spice and subtle peanut note that works well here) .75 oz Bottled in Bond Rye Whiskey (bottles like Rittenhouse or New Riff bring notes of baking spice and vanilla; if you only have one bottle of rye, just use 1.75 oz of that, but the blend helps bring a wider range of flavors) .5 oz Coffee Liqueur (St George NOLA, Mr Black, etc) 2 dashes Orange Bitters (I like a split of the orange peel and cardamom spice-forward Regan’s Orange and the juicy fresh orange flavor and aroma of Angostura Orange Bitters) Stir with ice and strain into a chilled double rocks glass with a large ice cube. Garnish with an orange twist
