The Argument

A fruity yet bittersweet Sidecar riff from drink wizard Matthew Belanger from Death & Co with some Tiki flavor profiles š¹
The Spanish Aged brandy brings a flavors of caramelized sugar and toasted nuts that work with the funky, tropical fruit notes in the Overproof Jamaican rum to create a flavorful base that complements the berry and citrus notes from the muddled blackberries and lime/grapefruit juices. Cinnamon syrup and a splash of vanilla add complementary spice notes that add depth while a splash of Campari brings a bittersweet note that helps tie together the grapefruit and berry notes. Delicious!
Muddle 3 fresh blackberries in .25 oz Vanilla Syrup or Liqueur (Giffard or Licor 43 for latter)
Add:
1.5 oz Spanish Aged Brandy (Cardenal Mendoza, Lustau, etc)
.5 oz Jamaican Overproof Pot-still rum (Smith & Cross, Hampden Estates, etc)
1 oz Donnās Mix #1 (mix of two parts fresh grapefruit juice (even better if you can find Oro Blanco white grapefruit) to 1 part cinnamon syrup)
.5 oz Fresh Lime Juice
.25 oz Campari (Cappelletti would sub nicely)
Shake with ice and double strain into a chilled coupe. No garnish
