A bright yet boozy Navy Grog riff showcasing whiskies, citrus, and a touch of bitterness 🍹🍋⚓️
The trio of bourbon, rye, and scotch provide a base with notes of vanilla, honey, and baking spice that works nicely with the bright, zippy grapefruit and lemon juice. Splashes of an orange peel and sarsaparilla forward Amaro and maple syrup help accentuate the baking spice notes in the whiskies while also giving body and helping bridge the grapefruit. Yuzu bitters help boost the citrus punch and aroma
1 oz Bourbon (bonded options like Eagle Rare or Old Grand-Dad are nice)
1 oz Rye (bonded options like Rittenhouse or New Riff)
1 oz Blended Scotch (Compass Box Great King St Glasgow has nice mix of honeyed malt and peat)
.75 oz Fresh Grapefruit Juice
.75 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
.25 oz Ramazzotti (Italian Amaro with mild bittersweet notes and prominent orange peel with a touch of sarsaparilla)
.25 oz Maple Syrup
1 dash Miracle Mile Yuzu Bitters
Shake with ice and strain into a footed pilsner or Mai Tai glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish with a swizzle stick, grapefruit half moon, and cocktail umbrella
