Strangers in Paradise

A Mai Tai riff (75th Anniversary this summer!) with some ginger bite and bittersweet notes from Shannon Mustipher 🏝🗿 The unaged agricole rhum and mezcal are blended with a heavier rum to bring darker and more funky/savory flavors to the forefront. These flavors are complemented by the bite of the ginger syrup and the float of bittersweet Fernet while the lime provides a bright citrus undercurrent and the orgeat balances the drink with a bit of nutty sweetness
1 oz Unaged Rhum Agricole (Rhum JM, La Favorite, etc)
.5 oz Blended Aged Rum (Hamilton 86 Demerara or El Dorado 8 yr are good options)
.5 oz Mezcal (Espadin variety)
.75 oz Fresh Lime Juice .75 oz Orgeat (Syrup featuring almonds and orange flower water; Small Hand Foods)
.25 oz Ginger Syrup (Juice 1 hand of ginger and add 2 volumes granulated sugar: 1 volume ginger juice, blend until dissolved)
Shake with ice and strain into a chilled Tiki mug or footed pilsner filled with crushed ice. Float 1 tsp Fernet. Garnish with lime shell, sprig of fresh mint, and swizzle stick
