Stones and Leaves

A tasty rum cocktail from NOLA’s Jesse Carr that showcases summery 🍑 and basil
The sweet peach flavor is boosted by the honey syrup and carried through by the rum base while the star anise notes in the aquavit complement the herbal notes from the fresh basil and lemon lightens the drink
Muddle 3-4 ripe yellow peach slices in .5 oz Honey Syrup (2 parts honey: 1 part warm water)
Add:
1.5 oz Blended Lightly Aged Rum (Diplomatico Planas, Plantation 3 Star, etc)
.5 oz Aquavit (the star anise notes in Oregon’s Krogstad is a good choice, but Linie would also add intriguing spice notes)
.5 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
Two Fresh Basil Leaves, torn (thai basil would also be great, but use 5-6 leaves)
Shake with ice and double strain into a chilled double rocks glass with a few ice cubes. Garnish with a sprig of basil and freshly grated nutmeg
