Spaghetti Western

A smooth-sipping agave-forward Old Fashioned variation from Jessica Gonzalez during her time at NYC’s Death & Co with notes of caramel, orange, and smoke The butterscotch notes from the Reposado tequila work in great harmony with the subtle bitterness, orange peel, and caramel notes in the Nonino while the Mezcal adds some stone fruit notes and a bit of smoke and the bitters tie things together while giving a subtle citrus note 1 oz Reposado Tequila (lots of good options, I like Arette, El Tesoro, Siembra Valles for stirred applications) .5 oz Mezcal (Espadin varieties from Del Maguey Vida, Koch, etc work well) .75 oz Amaro Nonino (grappa-based Amaro with subtle bitterness; orange peel and caramel notes) 1 dash Orange Bitters (I like the combination of spice in Regan’s orange with the citrus notes of Angostura’s orange offering) Stir with ice and strain into a chilled double rocks glass with a large ice cube. Garnish with a grapefruit twist
