A delicious highball riff on the Cuba Libre from NYC’s Sother Teague The use of an Amaro that uses kola nut amongst its ingredients (Meletti) along with soda water produces a flavor and effervescence that is reminiscent of Coca Cola. The addition of a bit of Blended lightly aged rum and a bit of lime juice produces flavors that are pretty close to a Rum and Coke or Cuba Libre. The addition of gin and lime bitters boosts the herbal notes and citrus zest in the drink to even more strongly evoke a highball with Coca Cola 1.5 oz Amaro Meletti (Mildly bittersweet Amaro with notes of cola) 1 oz Blended Lightly Aged Rum (Plantation 3 Stars, Cana Brava, etc) .5 oz London Dry Gin (Beefeater, Tanqueray, etc) .25 oz Fresh Lime Juice 2 dashes Scrappy’s Lime Bitters Shake with ice and strain into a chilled Collins glass with ice cubes.
