So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings

An elegant summertime Martini riff with touches of herbs, berries, spices The herbal, floral, and spice notes in the Danish unaged aquavit work really nicely with the botanicals in the gin. The Blanc vermouth softens the drink while adding complementary white wine notes and the splash of raspberry syrup boosts the berry note in the summer aquavit. The bitters add some notes of rhubarb, vanilla, lemon peel, and sumac that nicely tie together flavors. Easy drinking, yet flavorful! 1.5 oz Unaged Aquavit (Bottle pictured is a Danish aquavit infused with summertime ingredients (kind gift from friends), but Aalborg or Krogstad should sub) .5 oz Gin (Monkey 47 is delicious, but something like Four Pillars, St George Botanivore, Plymouth, etc should sub) .5 oz Blanc/Bianco Vermouth (Dolin, Carpano, Bordiga, etc) .25 oz Raspberry Syrup (add equal volumes granulated sugar, water, and raspberries and stir until sugar dissolves on medium until reaches near boil; step heat down to medium-low and simmer 5 minutes, occasionally pressing berries against wall of pot to yield juices; strain) 2 dashes Bitter End Moroccan Bitters 1 dash Rhubarb Bitters (Crude, Fee Brothers, etc) Stir with ice and strain into a chilled coupe.
