Shadow Box

A decadent Old Fashioned riff from Death & Co NYC that balances malt, raspberry, nut, and chocolate flavor notes
The honey, dark fruit, and subtle peat notes in the cask strength single malt work with the prune and vanilla notes in the Armagnac to provide a very flavorful base. These flavors are accented by dark fruit flavors from the raspberry liqueur, a touch of nutty sweetness from the orgeat, and a touch of chocolate and spice from the chocolate mole bitters. A very fine after dinner sipper!
1 oz Cask Strength Single Malt Whiskey (can use a bottle from the Highland or Speyside region of Scotland or quality American single malt from Westland, Del Bac, etc)
1 oz Aged Armagnac (French brandy from Gascogne region; tends to have more oak, spice, rustic character than Cognac)
.25 oz Raspberry Liqueur (St George, Giffard, etc)
Tsp Orgeat (Small Hand Foods)
2 dashes Chocolate Mole Bitters (Bittermens, Scrappy’s, Miracle Mile, etc)
Stir with ice and strain into a chilled double rocks glass with a large ice cube. Garnish with an orange twist
