Sasake Garden

An elegant Old Fashioned riff from the drink wizards at NYC’s Death & Co that tastes like an exquisitely composed dessert plate
The vanilla and subtle fruit notes in the Japanese grain whisky work beautifully with the oak and tropical fruit notes in the aged cachaca while the Amaretto and Apricot liqueur bring almond cookie and stone fruit accents and the orange bitters add a hint of fresh orange zest and cardamom spice. Outstanding!
1.5 oz Nikka Coffey Grain Whisky (Grain whisky is column distilled (Coffey still) and often has cereal grain and vanilla notes)
.5 oz Aged Cachaca (Avua Amburana is excellent, Novo Fogo is also nice)
.25 oz Amaretto (Italian almond-based liqueur)
.25 oz Apricot Liqueur (Giffard, Rothman & Winter)
2 dashes Orange Bitters
Stir with ice and strain into a chilled double rocks glass with a large ice cube. Garnish with an orange twist
