A Low ABV sipper from Houston’s Julep that is close to a riff on a Rusty Nail and brings a punch of flavor The bright, slightly citrusy notes of the blanc vermouth create a nice light base for the peaty smoke of the Scotch and honey/saffron notes in the Benedictine to shine through. The spritz of Herbsaint (can sub absinthe) gives an intriguing anise aroma and adds a nice lushness to the drink 1.5 oz Blanc/Bianco Vermouth (Dolin or Carpano) .75 oz Peat-forward Blended Scotch (Famous Grouse Black, Douglas Laing Peat or Rock Island, etc) .5 oz Benedictine (French liqueur with distinct honey/saffron notes amongst other herbs) Stir with ice and strain into a chilled coupe. Spritz (or rinse with .25 oz) with Herbsaint. No garnish
