Rusty Griswold

A variation on the classic Rusty Nail (Scotch and honey-flavored Drambuie) that incorporates some holiday accents
The highland scotch blend with notes of honey and heather is complemented by the cinnamon and oak notes from the bourbon while the walnut liqueur and honey syrup provide some comforting sweet notes and the bitters tie everything together
1.5 oz Highland Scotch (a Blend of single malts from Douglas Laing is pictured, but feel free to use your favorite Highland version)
.5 oz Overproof Bourbon (Old Grand-Dad 114 is my favorite)
.25 oz Walnut Liqueur (also referred to as Nocino)
.25 oz Honey Syrup (2 parts honey:1 part warm water)
2 dashes Aromatic Bitters (I like the spice notes in Abbott’s Bitters, but Angostura, Bitter Truth Aromatic, Fee Brothers Whiskey Barrel Aged will all work)
Stir with ice, strain into double rocks glass with a large ice cube. Garnish with a lemon twist
