A strong yet comforting Old Fashioned riff from stalwart Seattle cocktail bar Canon with notes of allspice, orange, vanilla, and cocoa 🍊🍫🥃 The caremilzed sugar and baking spice notes in the bonded bourbon work nicely with the allspice notes from the liqueur and the hints of vanilla and orange from the splashes of liqueur. The chocolate bitters add a touch of richness and complementary chile spice 2 oz Bonded Bourbon (100 Proof; Col EH Taylor, Old Grand-Dad, McKenna, etc) .25 oz Allspice Liqueur (St Elizabeth or DeGroff Pimento) 1/2 tsp Vanilla Liqueur (Licor 43, Giffard; can sub vanilla syrup) 1/2 tsp Orange Liqueur (Mandarine Napoleon here; Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao would also work well; Cointreau in a pinch too) 4 dashes Chocolate or Chocolate Chile Bitters (Scrappy’s, Bittermens, Miracle Mile, etc) Stir with ice and strain into a chilled double rocks glass with a large ice cube. Garnish with an orange twist
