Ripples on an Evaporated Lake

A rich, yet tropically inflected Old Fashioned riff from Chicago’s excellent Lost Lake that can stand in for an after dinner coffee ☕️🥥🥃
The molasses, caramelized sugar, and vanilla notes in the blend of rums work nicely with flavors of coffee, coconut while the splash of Amaro adds a bittersweet note. A delicious sipper
1 oz Trinidadian Rum (Scarlet Ibis, Angostura 1919, etc)
1 oz Blended Aged Column Still Rum (Chairman’s Reserve, Ron Abuelo, etc)
.25 oz coffee-demerara syrup (mix equal volumes coffee or coffee liqueur with demerara (or cane) sugar and stir until dissolved
Tsp Coconut Liqueur (Kalani)
Tsp Amaro Montenegro (can also sub favorite mildly bittersweet Amaro)
1 dash Coffee or Chicory Pecan Bitters
Stir with ice and strain into a chilled double rocks glass with a large ice cube. No garnish
