Rhymin & Stealin

A dark, brooding Manhattan variation that takes advantage of rum’s affinity for berries
The blended aged rum provides a nice flavorful base of molasses and dark fruit that is boosted by the addition of raspberry liqueur and the darkened molasses notes of the blackstrap rum. Meanwhile, the Amaro Nardini provides a great foil for the richer flavors with notes of bitter dark chocolate and a bit of a licorice/mint undertone, the overproof dark rum provides oomph whole reinforcing the dark fruit and coffee notes, and the bitters round out the spice profile
1.5 oz Blended Aged Rum (Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva is a great choice, El Dorado 12 could sub)
.5 oz Overproof Dark Rum (Plantation OFTD is the best that is widely available, the Golden Devil Overproof Dark Jamaican is also excellent)
.25 oz Blackstrap Rum (Cruzan makes a nice bottle)
.5 oz Amaro Nardini (Italian Amaro that has notes of dark chocolate, orange peel, menthol/anise)
.25 oz Raspberry Liqueur (St George, Giffard, etc)
2 dashes Aromatic Bitters of choice (Angostura, Abbott’s, Bitter Truth Aromatic, etc)
Stir with ice and strain into a chilled coupe. No garnish (though can add a raspberry to the bottom of the coupe if in season)
