A refreshing tropical beer cocktail with a hint of the savory 🏝🥥🍊🥭🍹
The juniper and other botanicals in the blend of gins works nicely with the savory/sweet curry-turmeric cordial to provide a substantial backbone that complements the tropical fruit flavors in the fruited sour beer, passionfruit liqueur, and unaged cachaca. The tart lime juice helps balance the acidity while the coconut water lengthens the drink. The bitters add a bright, floral note. Incredibly refreshing!
1 oz Gin (Citrus friendly bottle like Four Pillars or St George Botanivore is a nice choice)
.5 oz Old Tom Gin (older style with a touch of sweetness and less juniper; Hayman’s is a good option; as is Scofflaw)
.5 oz Unaged Cachaca (Avua Prata or Novo Fogo Silver)
1 oz Coconut Water
Fat .5 oz Fresh Lime Juice
.5 oz Curry-Turmeric Cordial (add 1/4 C each granulated sugar and water along with 1/2 tsp curry powder and 1/4 tsp turmeric; stir until dissolved and strain)
.25 oz Passionfruit Liqueur (Giffard; can also use syrup from Small Hand Foods)
1 dash Bittercube Jamaican #2 Bitters (hibiscus and grapefruit zest)
Shake with ice and strain into a chilled Collins glass with ice cubes. Top with 1.5 oz fruited sour beer (best if tropical fruits; Barebottle Tropicandy Super Shandy shown). Garnish with a swizzle stick and a cocktail umbrella
