A delightful, flavorful drink from Fanny Chu of Brooklyn’s Donna that sits at the intersection of a margarita, daiquiri, and cherry-lime rickey 🍒🥃 The caramelized sugar notes in the aged rum and smoke/citrus zest notes in the mezcal provide a firm foundation for the flavors of cherries (from the Eau de vie and liqueur), almond (Orgeat), citrus (lime juice), and a bit of baking spice (Tiki Bitters). A delicious and nuanced sip 1 oz Aged Column Still Rum (Don Q Anejo, Ron Abuelo, Bacardi 8 yr, etc) .75 oz Mezcal (Espadin variety) .25 oz Cherry Eau de Vie/Kirschwasser (Clear Creek, several European producers) .75 oz Fresh Lime Juice .5 oz Cherry Liqueur (Cherry Heering, Leopold Brothers, Ratafia, etc) .25 oz Orgeat (Small Hand Foods) 1 tsp Rich Simple Syrup (2 parts unrefined sugar of choice: 1 part water; stir until dissolved) 1 dash Bittermens Elemakule Tiki Bitters Shake with ice and strain into a chilled coupe.
