Planet Rock

A refreshing, slightly spicy tropical Gimlet riff inspired by a drink from Seattle’s excellent Navy Strength (Fortress of Solid Dudes) that uses similar modifying flavors The green chile vodka combines with the botanicals in the gin to give a bright, vegetal base flavor with a hint of spice that is punched up with fresh lime juice and the black pepper and bay leaf of the bitters. The richer sweet flavors of apricot and coconut balance the drink while steering the flavor in a tropical direction while the bit of Campari adds a slight juicy, bittersweet note 1 oz Gin (Less juniper-forward bottle like Plymouth or Four Pillars is best) 1 oz Green Chile Vodka (St George makes a great bottle or can make your own chile infusion with the seeds/ribs of jalapeño in less than 30 minutes; hit me up if you want a recipe) .75 oz Fresh Lime Juice .25 oz Campari (or other bittersweet red Aperitivo of choice) .25 oz Coconut Liqueur (Kalani) .25 oz Apricot Liqueur (Giffard, Rothman & Winter) Barspoon Simple Syrup (1:1) 1 dash Bitter End Chesapeake Bay Bitters Shake with ice and strain into a chilled double rocks glass with a few ice cubes.
