Oedipa Maas

A layered, fall flavored low ABV Martini riff with notes of pear, green apple, and a touch of smoke 🍐🍏🍸
The Manzanilla sherry brings notes of green apple and saline that help elevate the ripe Bartlett pear flavor and aroma that are present in the Eau de vie. The blanc vermouth helps add some body and subtle sweetness to an otherwise very dry cocktail while the Mezcal adds notes of citrus zest and some subtle smoke that give a nice finish to each sip and the combination of bitters bring some complementary notes of sumac, preserved lemon, and thyme. A delicious pre- or post-dinner sipper
1 oz Manzanilla Sherry (dry fortified wine from Spain that resembles a white wine with notes of green apple, saline; Bodegas Yuste, Lustau, Hidalgo all make nice bottles)
.5 oz Pear Eau de Vie (St George Pear Brandy is my favorite but Clear Creek also makes a nice bottle)
.5 oz Mezcal (Espadin Variety)
1 oz Blanc Vermouth (a bit more body and a touch more floral than dry vermouth)
1 dash Bitter End Moroccan Bitters (notes of sumac and other North African spices that adds lemon-y note to drinks)
1 dash Crude Rizzo Bitters (rosemary, thyme, pink peppercorn notes that add a subtle savory note to drinks with clear spirits)
Stir with ice and strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with a fan of fresh pear slices
