Oaxacan Smoking Jacket

A smooth, bittersweet Old Fashioned riff from Seattle’s Barrio with notes of orange, chocolate, and smoke 🍫🍊 The mezcal has notes of citrus zest, stone fruit, and smoke that work nicely with the bittersweet cola and orange peel notes in the Amaro, the chocolate and spice notes in the bitters, and the toasted nut accents from the sherry
1.5 oz Mezcal (Espadin variety)
.5 oz Oloroso Sherry (not as sweet as PX, but richer than Amontillado)
.5 oz Amaro CioCiaro (Italian amaro with medium bitterness and orange peel notes)
.25 oz Simple Syrup (1:1)
1 dash Chocolate Mole Bitters (Bittermens, Scrappy’s, Miracle Mile, etc)
Stir with ice and strain into a chilled double rocks glass with a large ice cube. Garnish with an orange twist
