New Year’s Day

An Irish Whiskey-based Old Fashioned with warming winter flavors and spices named in tribute to one of the best singles from my favorite U2 album (War) The cereal and barrel spice from the pot still Irish whiskey are complemented by the pear and vanilla flavors from the two liqueurs and the cardamom bitters bring intriguing spice 2 oz Irish Whiskey (pot still if available) .25 oz Licor 43 (Spanish liqueur with distinctive vanilla flavors) .25 oz Pear Liqueur (St George Spiced Pear is my favorite, but Rothman & Winter or others can probably sub) 1 dash Scrappy’s Cardamom Bitters 1 dash Aromatic Bitters (I really like Abbott’s, but Angostura, Bitter Truth Aromatic, etc can stand in) Stir with ice, strain into chilled double rocks glass with a large cube. Garnish with an orange twist
