Moon River Rock

A rich, comforting Old Fashioned riff with subtle notes of orchard fruit and honey 🥃🍎🍐🍯 The Speyside scotch has notes of honey and yellow fruit that are supplemented by the orchard fruit notes in the Calvados and a touch of vanilla and spice from the rye whiskey. Splashes of Falernum and Benedictine add notes of clove and saffron while helping boost the honeyed undertones while the bitters add notes of chamomile, subtle star anise, and dried fruits. A delicious after dinner sipper 1 oz Speyside Single Malt Scotch (Craigellachie, Glendronach, Macallen, etc) .5 oz Rye Whiskey (Rittenhouse, New Riff, etc) .5 oz Calvados (French apple brandy; a bottle like Lemorton or Pacory has a mix of apples and pears that works very well here) Tsp Benedictine (French liqueur with notes of honey, saffron, herbs) Tsp Falernum (Rum-based liqueur from Barbados with clove and lime zest) 2 dashes Bitter Truth Creole or Peychaud’s Bitters 1 dash Bittercube Bolivar Bitters (notes of chamomile and dried fruit) Stir with ice and strain into a chilled double rocks glass with a large ice cube.
