Misty Mountain Hop

An easy-sipping Manhattan riff with plenty of berry and spice notes
The baking spice and black pepper notes in the rye whiskey and bourbon (which also brings a whisper of vanilla and caramel) works very well with the berry flavors while the Amaro lends a touch of bittersweetness and a faint note of cherries. The bitters boost the baking spice notes while the essential oils from the lemon twist add pleasant aroma and a bit of zing
1.5 oz Rye Whiskey (Bottled in Bond option like Rittenhouse is nice here)
.5 oz Bourbon (Buffalo Trace, Elijah Craig, McKenna, etc)
.5 oz Amaro Montenegro (mildly bittersweet Italian Amaro with notes of cherries and orange peel)
.25 oz Blackberry Liqueur (Giffard or Leopold Brothers)
Barspoon Berry Preserves (Tayberry, Blueberry, etc; room for experimentation within the berries)
2 dashes aromatic bitters of choice (Angostura, Abbott’s, etc)
Stir with ice and strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with a lemon twist
