Medicine Woman

A delightful Tiki drink that layers smoke, fruit, and spice from NYC’s Shannon Mustipher 🏝🗿 The mezcal lends a note of tropical fruit and smoke that is supplemented by the fresh cane and anise notes from the infused aguardiente and the ripe fruit notes of the mango eau de vie. The coffee liqueur and Cynar add some bittersweet, roasted notes while the lime brings freshness and acidity, the bit of green chile lends a hint of vegetal spice, and the mint lends a pleasant aroma
1 oz Mezcal (Espadin variety)
.75 oz Star Anise-Infused Aguardiente (infuse 1 oz Paranubes with 4-5 star anise pods for 1-2 hours; strain before use; aguardiente is a sugar cane based spirit from Central America and parts of the Caribbean)
.5 oz Mango Eau de Vie (Rhine Hall)
1/2 tsp Green Chile Liqueur or Vodka (Ancho Verde, St George Green Chile, etc)
.75 oz Fresh Lime Juice
.5 oz Cynar (Italian bittersweet Amaro)
.5 oz Coffee Liqueur (St George, Mr Black, etc)
.25 oz Simple Syrup (1:1)
Shake with ice and strain into a Tiki mug or footed pilsner glass with crushed ice. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and a swizzle stick
