Makalapa

A floral, refreshing Daiquiri riff from Lynette Marrero of Brooklyn’s Llama Inn that is perfect for a weekend afternoon or early evening 🌺 The caramelized sugar and tropical fruit aromas of the aged Demerara rum and the brown sugar/molasses notes in the blended aged Venezuelan rum work in great harmony with the hibiscus honey syrup while the mix of fresh lime and grapefruit juice bring bright/tart flavors to balance the drink and the splash of soda water adds a hint of effervescence 1.5 oz Aged Demerara Rum (El Dorado 8 year is a good choice, something like Appleton Reserve or another blended aged rum would be a good sub) .5 oz Blended Aged Rum (Diplomatico) 1 oz Hibiscus Honey Syrup (brew one bag of hibiscus tea and mix equal volumes of the still warm tea and honey; stirring until the honey is fully incorporated) .5 oz Fresh Lime Juice .5 oz Fresh Grapefruit Juice Shake with ice and strain into a chilled coupe. Top with .5 oz Club Soda or LaCroix. Garnish with a lime wheel
