Mai Sha Roa Na

Mai Tai variation from False Idol in SD that adds a hint of banana
Built on the Trader Vic classic recipe, the banana and slightly nutty and sweet Madeira wine add some complexity to the pot-stilled rum funk. Swapping in lemon for lime adds a slightly different citrus note
2 oz Blended Aged Rum (having a pot still rum in the blend helps; if you can’t find things like Worthy Park 10 (pictured) or Denizen Merchant’s Reserve, can use 1.5 oz blended aged like El Dorado 8 with .5 oz of pot still Jamaican (like Hamilton black or gold)
.75 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
.5 oz Madeira (fortified dessert wine from a Portuguese island chain)
.25 oz Banana Liqueur (Giffard)
.25 oz Orgeat
Barspoon Vanilla Syrup
Shake with ice, strain into double old-fashioned glass with crushed ice. Garnish with spent lemon shell and sprig of mint
