Keep The Change

A comforting, holiday-centric Old Fashioned riff that brings in flavors of mulled wine, poached pears, and roasted nuts
The split bourbon/rye base ensures there are plenty of notes of cinnamon, vanilla, pepper, and oak that are complemented by pears poached in mulled wine flavors from the glogg and spiced pear liqueurs with some additional spice and roasted pecan flavors from the bitters
1 oz Bourbon (bonded or overproof versions like Henry McKenna 10 yr, Old Grand-Dad 114, etc are best)
1 oz Rye (bonded/Overproof version with plenty of rye spice like Rittenhouse are best)
.25 oz Glogg Liqueur (mulled wine liqueur, delicious in holiday/winter drinks)
.25 oz Spiced Pear Liqueur (St George)
2 dashes Pecan or Walnut Bitters (El Guapo, Miracle Mile, Fee Brothers, etc)
1 dash Aromatic Bitters of Choice (Abbott’s, Angostura, etc)
Stir with ice and strain into a chilled double rocks glass with a large ice cube. Garnish with a lemon twist
