Jungle Love

A hybrid of the bitter/tropical classic Jungle Bird, the Rum+berries cornucopia of the Don’s Own Grog, and a beer cocktail that is an excellent refresher on a warm Spring/Summer afternoon 🍹🗿 The rum blend of funky/tropical Jamaican and molasses/spice heavy Blackstrap rum provides a deeply flavorful base that both stands up to the bittersweet Campari and shines through the citrus/kettle sour. The bittersweet Campari lends juiciness while also drying out the drink a bit and also works very nicely with the berry flavors in the liqueur and the beer while the pineapple liqueur keeps the pineapple flavors of the Jungle Bird in the background and boosts the tropical notes 1 oz Blended Aged Jamaican Rum (Appleton Reserve, Worthy Park 10, or the Barbados/Jamaican blend Probitas are great calls) .5 oz Blackstrap Rum (Cruzan; brings deep molasses and spice notes) .75 oz Campari (or other red Aperitivo of choice) .5 oz Fresh Lime Juice .25 oz Pineapple Liqueur (Giffard; could also sub pineapple gomme syrup) .25 oz Blackberry Liqueur (Giffard or Leopold Brothers) 1 dash Lime Bitters (Scrappy’s) Shake with ice and strain into a chilled double rocks glass with few ice cubes. Top with 1.5-2 oz berry forward-Kettle Sour (Mraz’s Double 3 Berry is excellent, but many local choices should work) #weekendtiki
