Jungle Flower

A tropical Manhattan riff from SD’s excellent Polite Provisions with a deceptive punch behind the delicious fruit notes
The blend of rums provide notes of brown sugar, vanilla, and tropical fruit that work nicely with the sweet/tart notes of the passionfruit and the bright citrus aroma from the orange bitters. The gentian-fortified white wine aperitivo lightens the drink a bit and adds some bittersweet undertones
1.5 oz Aged Rum (I split mine between the tropical fruit-forward pot-still Jamaican rum and the brown sugar/vanilla/spice notes of a St Lucian rum; can use one aged rum though)
.5 oz Pineapple Rum (Plantation Stiggins Fancy)
.5 oz Cocchi Americano (White wine-based aperitivo fortified with gentian)
.25 oz Passionfruit liqueur (Giffard)
2 dashes Orange Bitters (I like to use an equal mix of the cardamom-orange peel forward Regan’s No 6 and the juicy Angostura orange)
Stir with ice and strain into a chilled coupe. No garnish
