Johnny Blaze

A tropical beer cocktail that drinks light despite the deep, roasted flavors 🥥☕️ The toasted coconut notes in the porter work nicely with the barrel spice of the rye and the coffee and molasses notes in the overproof rum. The coffee and coconut liqueurs and chicory/pecan bitters complement these flavors while the lemon juice balances and lightens the drink
1 oz Rye (Bottled in Bond options like Rittenhouse or New Riff give more concentrated flavor)
.5 oz Overproof Dark Rum (Plantation OFTD or similar)
.5 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
.25 oz Coconut Liqueur (Kalani)
.25 oz Coffee Liqueur (St George NOLA, Mr Black, etc)
Tsp Rich Simple Syrup (2 parts unrefined sugar of choice to 1 part water; stir until dissolved)
1 dash Pecan or Chicory Pecan Bitters (Miracle Mile, El Guapo, etc)
Shake with ice and strain into a chilled Collins glass with a few ice cubes. Top with 1.5 oz of coconut porter/brown ale/stout. Garnish with a swizzle stick
