Hudson Valley

A comforting, bittersweet Manhattan riff inspired by fall flavors from a great apple growing region đđ„
The blend of bonded rye and bourbon result in a base with notes of baking spice vanilla, and caramel that works in beautiful harmony with the deep apple flavors in the cider reduction to highlight the apple flavor. The cinnamon and bittersweet notes in the Czech Amaro (Becherovka) and spice notes in the Sicilian amaro (Averna) help add some bitter undertones while also accentuating the baking spice notes. The vanilla and cocoa notes in the sweet vermouth help smooth things out and bridges the flavors while the bitters add notes of ginger, allspice, and other aromatic notes. A delicious fall after dinner sipper!
1 oz Rye Whiskey (bottled in bond options like Rittenhouse or New Riff offer more concentrated flavor)
.5 oz Bourbon (Elijah Craig has nice vanilla notes; baking spice notes in Wild Turkey/Russellâs Reserve would also be nice here)
.5 oz Becherovka (Czech Amaro with notes of cinnamon, honey, bittersweet notes)
.5 oz Spiced Apple Cider Reduction (add Tbsp brown sugar to 1/2 C apple cider from local orchard along with 3 cloves and a cinnamon stick; stir on medium-low heat until sugar dissolves and bring to simmer until volume has reduced by half before straining)
.25 oz Averna (Sicilian amaro with medium bittersweet notes along with spices, orange peel)
.25 oz Sweet Vermouth (Carpano Antica has nice full vanilla flavor that is good here)
1 dash Bittercube Jamaican Bitters #1 (ginger and allspice notes)
1 dash Aromatic Bitters of choice (Abbottâs, Bitter Truth Aromatic, Angostura, etc)
Stir with ice and strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with an apple fan sprinkled with freshly grated cinnamon
