A bittersweet, yet tropical Negroni/Boulevardier featuring some banana and coffee accents 🥃🍌☕️🍫
The smoke and roasted tropical fruit notes in the rum cask-finished Islay Scotch are boosted by a splash of funky Overproof Jamaican rum. These bold flavors stand up against the bittersweet/grapefruit pith notes of the Campari and the coffee/dark chocolate notes in the dark lager beer reduction/syrup. The banana liqueur helps boost the tropical notes while the sweet vermouth boosts the cocoa and spice notes while the orange twist adds a nice citrus aroma to the delightful sipper
.75 oz Islay Scotch (even better if you have a rum cask-finished option)
.25 oz Overproof Jamaican Rum (Smith and Cross, Hampden Estate, etc)
.5 oz Campari (feel free to substitute bittersweet aperitivo of choice)
.5 oz Banana Liqueur (Giffard or Tempus Fugit)
.5 oz Sweet Vermouth (Carpano Antica or Cocchi Vermouth di Torino have nice cocoa and spice notes)
.5 oz Dark Beer Syrup (reduce 1/2 C of imperial dark lager or porter for 5 minutes on medium heat before adding 1/2 C unrefined sugar of choice and moving heat down to medium-low; stir until sugar dissolves and let cool)
Stir with ice and strain into a chilled double rocks glass with a few ice cubes. Garnish with an orange twist
