House Call

A funky, yet refreshing agave-forward riff on the Dr Funk/Port Au Prince from Chicago’s excellent Lost Lake that is an overflowing cornucopia of different fruit flavors 🍹🍍🏝 The reposado tequila and mezcal contribute notes of citrus zest, subtle stone fruit, baking spice, and a touch of smoke while the sugarcane and red rice based Batavia Arrack adds a touch of funk. This base works very nicely with the tart/sweet pomegranate molasses, blackberry liqueur, tropical yet tart pineapple juice and bright lime juice. The clove and lime zest notes in the Falernum work with the Angostura and absinthe to add subtle hints of allspice, clove, and star anise 1 oz Reposado Tequila (El Tesoro, Siembre Valles, Arette, etc) .5 oz Mezcal (Espadin variety) .5 oz van Oosten Batavia Arrack (proto rum from Indonesia distilled with red rice and sugarcane) .5 oz Fresh Lime Juice .5 oz Fresh Pineapple Juice .5 oz Falernum (rum-based liqueur from Barbados with clove and lime zest notes) .25 oz Blackberry Liqueur (Giffard or Leopold Brothers) 1/2 Tsp Pomegranate Syrup (equal volumes pomegranate molasses and warm water; stir until combined) 1 dash Absinthe 1 dash Angostura Bitters Shake with ice and strain into a chilled double rocks glass with ice cubes.
