Half Court Cobbler

A layered, bittersweet riff on the classic Sherry Cobbler from NYC low ABV drinks whiz Dan Greenbaum 🍊🍋🥜 🎾 The citrus notes from the orange liqueur (or muddled orange) and lemon work very nicely with the honey syrup to provide flavorful accents to the slightly dry and nutty Amontillado sherry while the Cynar (medium bittersweet Amaro from Italy distilled from artichokes, spices) provides a fantastic note of bittersweet complexity that ties everything together 2.5 oz Amontillado Sherry (Bodegas Yuste, Hidalgo, etc) .5 oz Cynar (Italian Amaro with medium bittersweet notes; Cynar 70 is great if available) .5 oz Honey Syrup (2 parts honey: 1 part warm water; stir until dissolved) .5 oz Fresh Lemon Juice Tsp Orange Liqueur (cognac based Grand Marnier is great here; can also add an orange wheel) Shake with ice and strain into a chilled Collins or double rocks glass with ice cubes. Garnish with citrus wheels (if handy)
