Grandpa’s Cough Medicine

A comforting yet boozy Sour riff brimming with flavors of orchard fruit and baking spice 🍎🍏🍐🥃 The caramel and baking spice notes in the bourbon and the vanilla/spice notes in the Rye whiskey work in great harmony with the fresh apple cider and the poached pear notes in the liqueur. The lemon brightens things up while the Falernum boosts the clove notes and the bitters add molasses and additional spice cabinet notes 1 oz Bourbon (Elijah Craig, Eagle Rare, etc) 1 oz Rye Whiskey (bonded bottle like Rittenhouse or New Riff offer more concentrated flavor) .75 oz Fresh Pressed Apple Cider (best from the local orchard) .5 oz Fresh Lemon Juice .25 oz Spiced Pear Liqueur (St George) .25 oz Falernum (Rum-based liqueur with clove and lime zest notes) 1 dash Aromatic bitters of choice (Angostura, Bitter Truth Aromatic, Abbott’s, etc) 1 dash Bittercube Blackstrap bitters Shake with ice and strain into a chilled double rocks glass with a few ice cubes. Garnish with an apple slice
