Freehand Old Fashioned

A rich, tropical Old Fashioned riff from Boston bar The Hawthorne with a hint of bittersweet coffee 🍍☕️ The molasses, caramelized pineapple, vanilla, and cinnamon notes from the rum are followed by a touch of bittersweet coffee. The bitters boost the fruit and spice notes
2 oz Plantation Stiggins’ Fancy Pineapple Rum
.25 oz Rich Simple Syrup (2 parts unrefined sugar of choice: 1 part warm water; stir until dissolved)
1 tsp Coffee Liqueur (St George NOLA, Galliano Ristretto, Mister Black, etc)
1 dash Angostura Bitters
1 dash Orange Bitters
Stir with ice and strain into a chilled double rocks glass with a large ice cube. Garnish with essential oils expressed from an orange twist (discarding the twist after)
