For Whom The Bell Tolls

A delicious stirred daiquiri riff that draws inspiration from the Hemingway daiquiri and a recent Trick Dog variation (Rose of No Man’s Land) The use of grapefruit liqueur and lime bitters adds a juicy, tart note to the drink without the citrus while the sturdy blended lightly aged rum base is enhanced by the grassy funk of the Haitian clairin and cherry vanilla bitters 1.5 oz Blended Lightly Aged Rum (I chose the Cuban rum-inspired Cana Brava, but Plantation 3 Star or El Dorado 3 yr would also work) .5 oz Clairin (Haitian sugarcane based spirit similar to unaged rhum agricole) .5 oz Blanc/Bianco Vermouth (Dolin Blanc or Carpano Bianco) .25 oz Grapefruit Liqueur (Giffard) 2 dashes Scrappy’s Lime Bitters 2 dashes Bittercube Cherry Bark Vanilla Bitters Stir with ice and strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with essential oils expressed from grapefruit twist (discard twist after expressing over drink)
